Dr. Dolly Manvar is an allergist and has been in practice for over 40 years. She is certified by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology as well as the American Board of Pediatrics. She studied at the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda and then at Saint Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center. Dr. Dolly Manvar speaks seven languages including English,Italian,Hindi, Urdu,Punjabi, Gujarati and Kashmiri. Dolly Manvar MD offers broad array of services geared to address today’s most common allergies. We know there is no such thing as one-size-fits-all cure, so we never use a one-size-fits-all approach to your diagnosis.

Our goal is to improve and maintain your overall health and to empower you with an understanding of your condition.

The two main types of allergy tests are:

A skin test also called a scratch test) is the most common allergy test. With this test, Dr. Dolly Manvar will put a tiny bit of an allergen (like pollen or food) on the skin, then prick the outer layer of skin or make a small scratch on the skin. If the area swells up and becomes red (like a mosquito bite), the test is said to be positive, meaning that the patient is allergic to that substance. Skin testing allows the doctor to see within about 15 minutes if the patient is allergic to the substances tested.
A blood test may be used if a skin test can't be done. It takes a few days to get the results of blood tests.

Prior to coming in for allergy testing. You must not be on any Antihistamine (also know as any allergy medication such as Allegra, Clartin, Benedryl, or Zyrtec for 3 days, in order for testing to be accurate.

Preparing for your visit, you must know how your insurance plan works. Dr. Dolly Manvar is considered a Specialist. Most plans might require a referral from your primary care physician to see a specialist. Please make sure that if referral is needed you bring it with you on your visit. Some plans required an electronic referral from your health insurance company. Other plans just might need a regular referral which we call a script from your primary. doctor.

Also know it is your responsibility to know if your plan has any co-pays, co-ins, & deductibles before seeing a specialist..
